For years there has been an overlook in infrastructure within Western Sydney’s premier industrial estate located in Wetherill Park. Recently, Fraser Property Group engaged AWJ Civil to complete the Horsley Drive Business Park (HDBP) Infrastructure Works that consisted of major bulk earthworks, infrastructure construction, external road upgrades, extensive landscaping and construct retaining wall structures. The project was enlisted as a finalist in the CCF 2016 Earth Awards.
AWJ took pride and passion in completing the 26Ha estate situated in an established industrial precinct. The area is home to an experienced workforce and was built for large warehouse facilities. Whilst upholding all the values AWJ stands for, the works were also conducted in accordance with a limited construction program. This included the first pad handover milestone which included a significant amount of bulk earth works within a 10 week timeframe. With precision and efficiency AWJ was able to meet the overall program with a total cut to fill of 520,000m3 to reach pad RL (whereby 50% was rock).
From the beginning we confirmed how important this project was to Frasers Property Australia being a success and deliver on the milestones agreed with Western Sydney Parklands and also meeting completion dates with our future tenants.
From the extensive redesign and repricing at tender stage to major road closures for the installation of the roundabout and internal road construction, working in tandem with tight deadlines for the delivery of building pads with significant civil works, including coordination of services and completing with the final commissioning managing authorities, all carried out under tight administration and professionalism.
I’m pleased to confirm on the completion of the Horsley Drive Business Park, the AWJ project team has successfully delivered and those milestones have been realised with the project being a major success.
Congratulations, job well done.
We look forward to working with the AWJ team on the next project.

AWJ also constructed a new roundabout to a main collector road (Cowpasture Rd) and implemented a complex traffic management plan. This was aimed at minimizing the interface between live road traffic and the local businesses and commuters to least distract the day-to-day lives of the community during the completion of the project.
The team of highly trained and dedicated professionals was able to uphold an accelerated weekly production of cut to fill material. In addition, a number of retaining walls were constructed with clever management and unique design collaborating with Costin Roe and Retaining Solution Specialists to overcome construction constraints.
Effective liaison with local councils, engineers and authorities also enhanced the success of the project by ensuring quality construction. Essentially, the project was completed using a high level of skill, dedication and pride to assure Western Sydney’s move into the future, continues strongly.
Being deemed as a major success with tight administration and professionalism, AWJ is able to gain reassurance that they truly are Western Sydney’s most renowned and loved civil works company.
From all the team at AWJ, it was a pleasure working with all those involved and particularly the client Fraser Property group. We look forward to many more projects where we can display our skills and expertise and together help drive Western Sydney into its next era.
